QPR
QPR SPEND BIG
QPR were one of the two clubs during the transfer window that recently concluded. They spent big money on players like Christopher Samba and Remy. Despite their lowly league position and lack of finances without a benefactor, the club spent around £ 20 million on these players.
This is an astonishing amount of money for QPR to spend, but the news gets even bigger due to the wages of these players. There have been reports that the defender Christopher Samba is on a contract worth around £ 100,000 per week. Despite such speculation, the manager Redknapp has rejected rumours suggesting that he is gambling with the future of the club.
HARRY LIKES TARAABT
The new QPR manager Harry Redknapp has said that the rumours linking the midfielder Adel Taarabt with a move away from the club in January are untrue.
The Moroccan midfielder Adel Taarabt is regarded as one of the best players at the club, and he has been linked with a move since the days of Neil Warnock. However, the club have been able to persuade him and keep him at the club. Harry Redknapp has said that he is one of the key members of the squad, with whom he will be hoping to achieve safety in the Premier league.
HILL BACKS HUGHES
The QPR defender Clint Hill has said that the squad at the club are fully behind the manager Mark Hughes, despite results being extremely poor at the start of the new season. QPR are currently bottom of the Premier league table having taken just two points from the opening seven matches of the season.
This is extraordinary considering that QPR have spent a lot of money bringing in several high profile players on extremely large contracts. Despite not having the luxury of European football, QPR have been paying wages close to what the players are earning at a top four club.
BARTON MOVING ON
QPR are closer towards securing the next possible destination for the midfielder Joey Barton, who was recently stripped of the captaincy and punished severely by the club.
Joey Barton damaged the reputation of the club and the final day of last season after his theatrics in the match against Manchester city. He was found guilty by the English football Association on various accounts and has been handed a 12 match ban that would see him miss most of this season. In order to reduce the losses, the club has been looking to sell the player out on a loan deal till the end of the season.
QPR SNAP UP GREEN
QPR have secured their first major signing of the summer after capturing former West Ham United goalkeeper Robert Green on a free transfer.
The England international was out of contract at the end of this season, but he did not agree a deal with West Ham United to extend his stay at Upton Park. It was initially thought that he would be moving to Spanish club Malaga where he was offered around £ 40,000 per week.
However, he has decided to extend his stay in London after signing a deal with QPR, who managed to secure a Premier league place despite the 3-2 defeat at the hands of Manchester City on the final day of last season.
QPR NOT TAKEN LIGHTLY
Manchester city defender Joleon Lescott has said that the club should certainly not take their opponents on the final day of the season QPR lightly.
QPR will be visiting the Etihad stadium on the last day of the season knowing that they can still survive even after a defeat.
They are currently two points above Bolton in the relegation fight. The final relegation spot will be decided between QPR and Bolton. While Bolton are up against the prospect of beating Stoke city at the Britannia stadium, QPR will know that they can survive realistically with a point from the Etihad stadium.
