BARTON MOVING ON

QPR are closer towards securing the next possible destination for the midfielder Joey Barton, who was recently stripped of the captaincy and punished severely by the club.

Joey Barton damaged the reputation of the club and the final day of last season after his theatrics in the match against Manchester city. He was found guilty by the English football Association on various accounts and has been handed a 12 match ban that would see him miss most of this season. In order to reduce the losses, the club has been looking to sell the player out on a loan deal till the end of the season.

This was one of the ways to prevent his astronomical £ 80,000 per week wages from hampering the club. The 29-year-old Barton is now expected to join the French club Marseille on a season-long loan deal. The French club have been struggling with finances in the last couple of seasons, which has led to the departure of many high-profile names. In order to sustain their position in the league, the club are willing to look at bringing in players on loan deals. Joey Barton could be a great signing for the club at this stage, which would be beneficial for both parties involved.

Meanwhile, the club have also accepted a £ 7.5 million offer for the Tottenham defender Michael Dawson. The 28-year-old defender has not been guaranteed first team football at the White Hart Lane by the new manager Andre Villas-Boas. QPR are looking to strengthen the defence after suffering a horrible 5-0 defeat at home on the opening day of the season. QPR have been one of the big spending clubs in the transfer window in the summer after ensuring their Premier league status on the final day of last season.
