QPR to sign defender

It is reported that Queens Park Rangers is interested to sign Preston player Paul Huntington. The latter has one year remaining on his contract and is believed to be available for a price of £1m only. This will be a bargain concerning the talent and the experience that the defender possesses.

Queens Park Rangers manager Steve McLaren is keen to strengthen his team in order to mount a promotion push next season. This season they have been quite average defensively and will need some serious improvement if they want to climb up the table.
Steve McLaren said that there are some quality players in the squad and that they will need some quality additions in order to become stronger. He said that Paul Huntington is the kind of player that he is looking for and that he is sure that he will bring some much-needed steel at the back.
The manager said that there is plenty of work to be done and he wants to get his new players as early as possible so that he can start pre-season work.
However, it will all depend on how much Preston will be looking for the player. Queens Park Rangers do not have a big budget and may find it difficult to sign Huntington if Preston looks for a much higher fee.
Steve McLaren said that he is looking for at least 3 players in order to strengthen the team and he will be paying attention to players that are at the end of their contract. He said that he is aware that Queens Park Rangers is facing financial problems and that they do not have a big budget available.
He believes that there are some players available out there that can strengthen the team and this is what he will be looking to do.
